THE PEARL OF MOTHER NATURE
The town Obervellach can be found in the Austrian province of Carinthia. the area in witch Gatternighof is situated is called “Pearl of the National park Hohe Tauern” From the farm you can walk right into the magnificent nature that is not conquered by tourism. You can find wild Orchids, rare birds and insects, so don’t forget you’re binoculars who knows you might spot a Roe, Deer or Chamois!
SITES TO SEE
Areal must is the “Raggaslucht”, it’s a real kick to walk thru the narrow mountain passage alongside the roaring water. But there are more less known sites, the town of Spittal, Lienz, Villach and Klagenfurt are well worth a visit.
EVERYTHING FOR AN ACTIVE VACATION
One of the “Seven summits” in the National Park is the “Zagutnigspitze” the top of this mountain lies at 2.731 meters.
From the beginning of September until half May it’s possible to ski and snowboard at the Mölltalergletscher (up to 3.122 meters). The village Obervellach also has a lot to offer for active guests. There is a swimming pool with in- and outdoor basins, tennis courts and midget golf. For the real die-hards there is guided wild water rafting.
